| The book covers the natural history, causes, and treatments of oral mucosal diseases from a practical perspective. The book covers anatomical features of the oral cavity, diagnostic procedures, and differential diagnosis of oral mucosal lesions. It continues on to discuss developmental and genetic oral mucosal diseases as well as infections and inflammatory diseases. The goal of dermatologists is to master the clinical findings of oral diseases rather than refer these cases to ENTs. To this end, the clinical photographs are of good quality. However, the book does not include photographs of every entity discussed, which is a shortfall. Without an image of verruciform xanthoma on the tongue, reading only a description of its appearance may not allow diagnosis. A discussion of Magic MouthWash (a prescription mouthwash that can help with sores caused by chemotherapy as well as other conditions) and the authors' preferences for compounding this medication would be interesting and is not mentioned. |

| Overall, I found this to be a useful reference to learn about oral medicine and it lends itself as a quick resource should dermatologists need to peruse photographs of patients' oral lesions. |
