Purpose
|
| Pharmaceutics has evolved extensively over the past few decades and students need a new, robust text which covers current drug dose and delivery forms as an adjunct to their lecture content. While the practical application of pharmaceutics in the collegiate laboratory environment is a shadow of its former self, the need for knowledge surrounding all the current available dosage forms which are commercially available is ever present and will serve today's pharmacist well, especially when communicating with patients and practitioners. The book touches on the need for students to have a quality supplemental resource for the purpose of self-study, as there is limited time in the lecture space to cover all the intended material. As such, the book meets this objective quite nicely due to its format and straightforward presentation and chapter recap. |

| This book is extremely well written and organized in a manner that supports learners in a very straightforward manner. Each chapter includes a clearly defined review, introduction, outline, and subject matter as well as checkpoint recap questions embedded throughout the text. At the end of each chapter, it lists summary points as well as deeper dive questions which stimulate the learner to think a bit more about the subject matter presented. The book has 23 chapters which cover most, if not all available dosage forms and drug delivery in today's pharmaceutical landscape. The book includes a chapter presenting an introduction to the drug regulatory process. The book's content is at an appropriate level for the intended user and is easily understandable. The illustrations, tables, and index are all very well constructed and highly usable. |

| This book is well composed on many levels. It is easy to follow, not too busy or dry with regards to content and color. As students move through the classroom portion of the pharmaceutics content, this book will make a great pre-read to support the lecture. It will serve as a valuable resource for students well into their professional postgraduate career. |
