Purpose According to the book, the goal is to assist respiratory care students in gaining the pulmonary disease knowledge base to pass the National Board for Respiratory Care's (NBRC) Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialing exams and function as competent, confident respiratory therapists. The book meets its stated objectives. Audience The intended audience is students enrolled in respiratory care programs. It would be an excellent, up-to-date resource for practicing RTs as well. Features Each chapter begins with a chapter outline, objectives, and key terms, followed by a case study related to the chapter topic and an introduction. Readers are given evidence-based, disease-specific guidelines of the diagnosis, etiology, testing, treatment, and management of each topic disorder via figures, tables, boxes, and "knowledge check" questions. Each chapter ends with a summary, key points, chapter questions, and references. There is a glossary and index at the end of the book. Assessment This is an excellent book. I highly recommend it for respiratory care programs and as a worthy resource for practicing respiratory therapists as well.
